I recently wrote a post about the Ninja Trader platform and some of the worthwhile features it had for developing traders, including a simulation mode and the ability to track metrics of performance.
With my encouragement, Ninja Trader is holding a free webinar for TraderFeed readers on Tuesday, September 15th after the market close (4:30 PM ET) to introduce the platform to interested traders. I receive no compensation from Ninja Trader for putting the word out regarding the event; rather, this is part of an ongoing effort to share resources with readers that I have found promising.
The webinar will cover the following topics:
* Using SuperDOM (depth of market ladder) for entering and modifying orders;
* Creating customized trading strategies, including intelligent trailing stops;
* Using the Chart Trader feature to enter and manage positions directly from a chart;
* Real time scanning for trading opportunities;
* Using the simulation mode to further learning and development and test new strategies.
The Ninja Trader platform can be downloaded and used in simulation mode free of charge, so that you can check it out prior to the webinar.
To register for the webinar, send an email to register@ninjatrader.com. You will receive login details and then, on the day of the event, can login for the webinar at this address.
Hope to see you there! I will be posting about other resources for traders shortly.

It looks as if Ninja Trader is not available for Macs.
yes, but you can use it on vmware fusion - works flawlessly.
NinjaTrader is not available as a native application for Mac OS X, but quite a few people are using it seamlessly on Macs using Fusion or other emulators according to posters on the NT Forum.
This together with previous post are a good example of how NOT to evaluate and recommend a product. I'm sorry but trying out a software for a couple of hours and looking at the list of features is not the same as and cannot substitute for testing it in real life situations over time.
As a customer and user of NinjaTrader for over a year I too liked the potential the software showed and many of the feature you liked in it. However I was sorely disappointed. The problems are numerous:
1. Ninjatrader management often promises a lot and under-delivers. This covers everything from communication updates to product feature implementation and releases.
2. Technical support is fast, but inefficient, often leaving issues unresolved saying they're unable to reproduce the problem and just leaving it at that.
3. Lifetime license means there is very little regard to existing customer needs. Case in point, current IQFeed API is 10 months behind DTN's specifications rendering NT useless with one of the best data feeds it purports to support.
4. Continued mis-management of new version releases, NT7 has been scheduled for release throughout this entire year multiple times and endlessly postponed. This was often accompanied by empty reassurances and misleading communication till the very last minute of the various missed release dates.
5. With the exception of the DOM, the software usability, technology and performance are far behind many other similar platforms.
It is unfortunate that the situation is as it is. The software does have a lot of potential but unless some significant changes are made at the company priorities and attention to customers level then I'm afraid it will continue to be plagued by the issues I mentioned above and hardly fulfill a fraction of its potential.
Hi Eyal,
I completely agree that nothing can substitute for trying a product or service in real time and seeing first hand how it addresses your needs.
The beauty of having a large and diverse readership is that there are opportunities for readers to share their first hand experiences, whether those or favorable or not. Your cautionary feedback is of concern to me, and I will be interested to hear if other readers have experienced similar problems.
Thanks much--
Brett
FYI, I was not able to successfully install Ninja Trader on my Vista 64 system.
I used the demo for a while of Ninja bc i wanted to trade from charts. I'm not able to do that with Tradestation and it bugs me that a platform that famous and big can't support that feature. It takes me some very critical and expensive extra split seconds to go from visual to numerical in placing orders and stops from a chart window to the matrix/dom window.
There's probably a lot of wish lists in every platform, but switching in itself is a very big deal. Not only the software & learning curve and the fast actions one is used to doing from muscle memory, but you might even need to change brokers.
And then of course different look and colors and workspace setups and possibly different looking or functioning indicators or even missing ones....
I would def need to run both a current platform and new one side by side and move over slowly.
So I'm a bit stuck with TS for a while.
I saw the videos on line of Ninja and the trade from chart feature looks appealing. - NQTraderJay
