Trading Implications of Psychological Energy and Life Success

The recent post outlined ideas relevant to psychological energy: when we are aligned with our values and strengths, our efforts bring energy, rather than deplete it.

An important implication of this view is that, if we are trading in a way that leverages our strengths and our values--our talents, skills, and interests--we should experience our efforts as energizing and meaningful, fueling our ongoing learning and development.

If trading depletes our energy, it's a probable sign that our efforts are not falling firmly within our performance niche. Successful traders find ways of viewing and trading markets that reflect who they are as people: that congruence keeps them resilient through periods of slump and learning/relearning.

excellent post - mark douglas of trading in the zone talks about thoughts, memories and experiences being flows of energy - not tangible physical entities - he links this energy flow with an overall energy ebb/flow of the individual. Fascinating stuff for sure!

Brett,

Nice comments but lets get real. Positive energy comes from positive results. No amount of wishful thinking will turn anyone into a profitable trader. After 27 years of trading I get tired of the Psycho-babble (no offense intended). Bottom line is learn one setup well and do it over and over again. Putting money in your pocket does wonders for getting energized. steve@giftedtrader.com
