Flat Corrective Periods in a Strong Market

Note how we got some selling early in the afternoon, but with prices remaining above their volume-weighted average price (red line) and above the high volume area between 896 and 897 noted in the Twitter posts. When cumulative TICK and cumulative Delta are positive on the day and price is above its VWAP, those relatively flat corrective movements that we've seen today are not necessarily signs of topping. A flat consolidation period means that the market is accepting value at a higher price level. In a true trending market, those flat corrections will be launching pads for the next leg of buying; those price levels should not be broken once buying has resumed.
