Traders talk about trade setups and look for trade setups, but what do we do to set ourselves up for success each day?

A trader may say: I want to get better. But how does he do that? How does one develop expert level skills?
One possible idea would be to follow a plan:
1. Observe
2. Qualify (define)
3. Quantify
4. Predict
5. Execute
.. could be applied to ourselves
6. Analysis
Because without after-action study one doesn't know if 1 - 5 are constructive.
